I am Roland Bastien, an awarded active Canadian artist who has had several art shows in Canada, New York, Italy, Venice, and London, the U.K., since 1981, including in museums.
I had my first grant in 1979 by the government, cultural affairs, which consisted of creating a range of works for an exhibition at Joyce Yahouda Gallery, Montreal, 1981.
The second grant I had from the Canada Art Council helped me to Realize my first ambitious project - an installation/multimedia work I completed and performed at Tangent, a mainstream Montreal Performance Art Center in the ’80s.
In 1992, I had my 3rd grant from the Canada Arts Council to realize another
ambitious project for the Power plant, a National Art Gallery in Toronto. I worked for six months to complete the work. They were displayed at the powerplant for their show, “The creation of the African Canadian odyssey,” curated by Richard Rhodes.
In 1998, I had my fourth grand by the Canada Arts Council. That grant allowed me to investigate how I understand European behaviors through the postcolonial art setting. I argued, cogitated, and documented on my traces. A branch of works from those data allowed me to produce installation multimedia and performance at the Western Front Gallery in Vancouver the same year.
2006, I won First prize at the fourth International Poetry contest.

Collections.
I have my works collected by the most prestigious collections, including Canada Art Bank: works on papers and canvas during 1981 - 1984, my early works. I Also, have paintings at the Quebec Art Museum in their collection: The global art ( tout l’art du monde)
1992, in Venice, from the Traghetto Art Galley, I have Artwork in the Guggenheim Venice collections.
I sold an NFT to Digital Currency Group for 125 ETH (538,800.00 USD ) in 2021.
